The Heinrich Böll Foundation
WHO WE ARE
The Heinrich Böll Foundation is the Green Political Foundation affiliated with the German party Alliance 90/The Greens. Based in Berlin, it is federally organised and independent from the party. Our primary objectives are to provide and support civic education both in Germany and abroad, to promote democratic participation and active citizenship, as well as cross-cultural understanding.
WHAT WE DO
The Heinrich Böll Foundation focuses on issues related to ecology and sustainable development, democracy and human rights, self-determination and justice. We place particular emphasis on gender democracy, meaning social emancipation and equal rights for women and men.
In Southeast Asia, our Democratization work makes strategic contributions to participatory democracy in Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar/Burma by enhancing civil society initiatives, gender democracy and information democracy. Our work on Climate, Ecology and Resource Governance fosters ecological and social sustainability in the region and responds to the pressing global challenge of climate change.
